Ron Bartholomew (Chair)

Ron Bartholomew was born in 1945 in Hillingdon and became an Isleworth resident in 1961. His early employment was in building renovation and conversion. His voluntary involvement in 1960s housing campaigns led to him setting up Middlesex Housing Association (MHA) in 1969.

Ron was employed from 1976 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MHA and then from 1986 to 2006 as CEO of its successor organisation, Co-op Homes. Two thousand properties were developed and managed for more then 20 housing co-operatives through these two organisations. The first co-op developed by MHA pioneered the integration of wheelchair users with able bodied tenants. MHA’s work also included the restoration and conversion of historic listed buildings.

Ron was a Trustee of Isleworth and Hounslow Charity from 1983 to 2006 and he also served as a Trustee of two other almshouse charities in Chiswick. Ron was a Hounslow Councillor from 1990 – 2006 with responsibilities including housing, environment, voluntary sector and disability organisations. He was a founder member in 1980 of Middlesex Housing Co-operative and is still supporting its work in voluntary self-help housing.

Ron was re-appointed as a Trustee of Isleworth & Hounslow Charity Ltd in July 2010. He was elected as Chair in November 2017.
